Many people are unprepared to own pets. Some people want to jump right into owning a dog. They usually end up giving it away or throwing it in a shelter because they’re not ready. A cat would be better for someone who has a busy life and doesn’t want to live alone. A cat is also better for a first pet to teach kids responsibility. Dogs might be too intimidating for young children.
Cats are better because they are easier to take care of. Cats can be left alone for an extended period of time when left with food and water and a litter box. Dogs need to be taken out to use the bathroom and get proper exercise. Cats don’t require very much exercise. They also poop in a box. Cats are calmer than dogs and sleep often. Cats also are very self sufficient. They can go out and hunt and catch mice for themselves.
